Introduction!
Hello everybody my name is sheamus and im posting today to tell you about the 2 wonderful worlds of Maple Story and of The World of Warcraft!! In this article I will comparing and contrasting the 2 naming their pros and cons and at the end of the article telling witch one i like the best.
In The World of Warcraft or WoW as you hear me call it for the remainder of the article my name is Shorttootall or sheamus on the server Chromagus
And in Maple Story or MS i am sheamis on the server Mardia... look me up on both!
Pros of WoW
OK first off i just want to say that WoW is an amazing game! I loved playing it.....
The first good thing about WoW is that there is an amazing support team behind you the whole time during the game they have a good ticket system and the game masters get back to you in a reasonable amount of time!
WoW also has many real world events that go for instance they have christmas events halloween events thanksgiving events and some in game made up events like the darkmoon festival.
There are 2 parts to the game..... The first part is were you are trying to get the level cap of 80 by grinding and doing quests for Non Player Computers or NPC's for short.....
The second part is called End Game. End game is were you have to play with other people in order to get better gear. The Whole point of endgame is to earn better gear and become stronger than everybody else.....
During End Game there is 2 types of play Player vs Player (PvP) or Player vs Enviroment (PvE)
Each type of gameplay has differnt kinds of gear and a totaly differnt way the game is played!
Another thing that WoW has to offer is an AMAZING ENVIROMENT!!!! you can spend hours just walking around exploring and trying to find new places to train and level up!
WoW also has profesion that allow you to make money at doing differnt kind of crafting jobs to make gear and weapons or cloths or enchants!
WoW also has a very VERY devoted player base and on the more populated servers there is people always on!
WoW has guilds witch are a union of players under a common name.
WoW has an auction hall that allows player to put some of their items for sale for other players to buy.
That is all I can think of now!
Pros of Maple Story
THIS GAME IS ALSO AMAZING! just want to say that straight off the bat....
This game is totaly, TOTALY differnt than WoW is.
This game is much simpiler than WoW because it is 2D like a hardcore mario game but the producers, Nexon and Wizet, make it work really well.
MS has a level 200 level cap! this allows you to keep playing for many months and keeps you busy the whole time!
MS economy is constanly changing!! because it is player driven unlike many MMO's out there.
MS IS COMPLETELY FREE TO PLAY!!!
MS also has an amazing gm system and admins that get back to you in a reasonable amount of time!
MS has a cashshop feature to were you use "nx" to buy stuff that change the way you characters look in game.... 1k of nx cost 1$ this is how Nexon has a staff and constanly update the game is because so many people buy stuff out of the cashshop! ( I am one of them ^_^) so you can play this game at the cost to others!!!
This is the largest MMO worldwide 7million play in China alone!
The enviroment in MS is HUGE.... and much of it doesnt have a map yet because it is hidden! You can spend hours exploring for new areas!
MS is fast paced with little downtime and instant rewards after you achieve a new level!
THE CONS
I am not going to list to the cons or either of the games because I feel that is a matter of opinon and everybody should go out and try both games and decide witch is better!!!

wow is better and its fun but mplestory is easy and also fun and easy to level so id go with wow becuase ms messes up ur computer

Maplestory has a lot of cons in my OPINION (capped for the people who takes it seriously).GMS' have a shitty economy for pixelated stars/equips/etc, community treats you like shit, all you do is grind on monster (WoW grinding on quests is another story), you can't be the best without spending your money on gachapon (or spend a lot of time hunting items to put in MTS), too much immature brats that think they are better than you because of level.
14.95 isn't that bad... Go mow some lawns you lazy kids/teens, its a way to keep some immature people out so we could have a good community (there are rarely any bad apples in the game), addons, lot of nice people to interact with, no hackers, etc.
So WoW > Maplestory.

Originally, I played maplestory because it was free to play and I used to be one of the guys that thought $15 a month was a waste for WoW. However, when I started playing WoW, it was amazing. There's so much more to do in WoW compared to maplestory, even when you reach the level cap of 80. Not to mention Maplestory, you are constantly killing the same thing over and over to gain levels. That isn't the case in WoW, where leveling up is 10 times easier and faster because you can level up by quests or grinding (faster than maplestory's grinding at least). Despite the fact that it's $15 a month for WoW, I see it as a good thing. The reason is because you get what you pay for. The game has AMAZING customer service, and has a MASSIVE amount of content. If your having your doubts about WoW, you should give it the benefit of your doubt and give the free trial a spin. You won't be dissapointed.
eh they're different games, but WoW is the more in-depth game if you should say. A free game will never match a p2p game in terms of support or content , simply because one has a constant revenue behind it and that Blizzard is a massive company. Now MS is fun until you ask yourself the question what am I leveling for ? .... hit 200 and do it again lol ? Now back to WoW I hate questing honestly I've leveled so many characters I don't even level through questing 1-60 I just dual box two accounts and leech my lowbie in instances. I've remembered almost every quest and its just the matter of kill x monster obtain x rewards and hit 80. Now this is where the game diverges and your player base diverges, you get your hardcore PVPers(who are good) and PVErs and your casual have fun do heroics run bgs all day crap gear players. Most people fall into the casual and I'm sure anyone who reads this is going to as well. 10% of the WoW population is actually good at pvp. In MS most high levels have a high level understanding of the game, but in WoW most 80s don't understand mechanics because WoW caters to casual players. There is a huge gap between the person who plays at 80 to get the best gear in PVE raiding for hours a day 3 times a week at SET TIMES(like a job) and PVP is a whole different matter. Most games grind for gear in pvp but in this game you have to get certain ratings to obtain gear and if you suck you will never obtain them and as for statistics 10% of the population hits 2k+ ratings and less for those who stand at the top. Both games are fun in a way, but WoW provides more of a competition IMO for players who don't like being just casuals.
maplestory 2 me is superior to WoW cause the level cap is higher, party quests are always fun and a lot more bosses. Also in maplestory they have job advancements to learn new skills that are stronger and better. In WoW you just learn a new skill every once in a while and learn better versions of a previous skill. In ms you can also raise and change stats. So you could make it unbelievably stronger than other characters at that level. Also there are more jobs available than WoW

You cannot compare them, they're two entirely different games. WoW is obviously the better game by far but I personally enjoy Maple better as I invest less time and money.

compare the money u spent on maple on one month and the 15$ you spent for WoW. in order to lvl fast on maple which most people want so they all went to buy 2x scrolls. and some people in maple want to look cool and shit. when is like 20$ for all slot armor which i have tested also some nx items only last for amount of time which made maple player to buy them again

WOw>maple so much.nexon is greedy and mapel all u do is grind nothing else. to grind all u need is to just pressing the acttck or spell button then once in a while u just press the hp or mp button. dont u guys found out that is very boring. Wow is a huge different thing u need to do a lot of things unlike maple is just 3 button game.
maplestory is a fun friendly environment were you can have relationships level up talk to friends and live inside your characters shell. nx is not a necessity just a want and thanks to the level cap being 200 world of warcraft seems like runescape compared to maplestory :P

Maple Story is a very simply game and much suitable for the younger audience due to the looks of the characters that are so cute. While the WOW tends for older players.
Maplestory is by far better. WoW players have no life because they're wasting money that could be put towards other things on a game. You say that 14.95 isn't much. yeah instead of vegitating your asses, you could be saving that for stuff that really matters like college, spending it on kids(if you have kids) or donating it to charities to ppl who arn't as well off as those who are stupid enough to waste their only time on this earth playing a silly game. How is playing a MMORPG going to help you acheive any goals. Seriously, anyone that would rather play a game than enjoy their life is really either sad or ignorant. I used to play WoW quite a bit, more than i should have but now i've noticed that im just wasting my life. If you believe playing WoW helps you as a person, then continue but truth be said Maplestory is by far better because its free. Meaning only the true geeks will pay for the cashshop items. therefore maplesotry helps you save your life while WoW merely is just wasting away your life.

I don't really see why everyone thinks WoW is such a good game. Once you get to 80, what is there to do? Honestly, all i can think of is either get gear or start lvling up a new character. Blizzard need to create new original experiences for gamers because i refuse to return to the game unless they start bringing in some new ideas.

World of Warcraft shoudn't be compared to a crappy 2D Sidescrolling Game.
I personally think that MS is better becuz you don't pay anything unlike WoW who charges you 14.95 bucks. And sure the graphics isn't as good as WoW BUT MS is way more fun to make up for the graphics. And you also do quests. NX isn't a necessity, it's just some cash you can buy some new appearances if you get bored so to me MS PWNS WoW.
i say maplestory and wow are opposite playing styles, i think a person culd like both and each culd give a break from the other, right now i think wow is a little better though, maple needs to get pvp!
I say Maplestory is better. it does have a good community if you play on smaller servers. Also level up can take quite a long time later levels allowing on to have to try. I will be honest it has its glitches but they do try to help out with them. Along with all the jobs MS has it makes you want to level up faster, and with jobs for all sorts of players.

dude they are way different MapleStory = 2D + slash 'em up game and nexon cash players but freee and WoW = 3D + third person good graphics community and 14.95 they are basically way different, so i would say they are the same.
first of all, iv played maplestory since my korean friend introduced me which was when i was 13.iv played GMS since it first came out in beta and have been comparing it to every other mmorpg, needless to say iv always come back to ms. when wow first came out, i wasnt so hyped cuz i just assumed it was a waste of time and money, if you think 14.95 is alot and no one can afford it every month, your paying $20 for 18,000 nx and most of the items now cost around 5k-10k...your paying more for less and "wut?" has a good point, maplestory is full of 7 year old kids who think theyre the shit cuz they can get their parents to buy them nx, where in wow, we have structure, you can start as a new player and build your way up, but in maplestory, youl have to choose the newest server to play on cuz going on scania would be the most expensive server to start in unless you know high levels who can give you +17 fucking work gloves and its full of high level ass holes.but there are alot of nice people who are willing to help you. maplestory does have its ups, if you like a simple and bright game, play maplestory, but if you want to get serious and start buying NX, youl end up paying more a month as you would for a monthly fee for wow. WOW has a much greater maturity level than maplestory, its full of older players, but every game does have the asshole type of players, in wow, youl get raging mother fuckers on vent who will just piss you so off youl probably either say fuck it and take a break off wow or end up raging like a mother fucker to the mother fucker, but in the end, its kinda fun and at the same time makes it a much better game to spend your time on if your looking for the best mmorpg to play in.
maplestory is fun if your looking for something simple and bright, if your going for EPIC, play WOW.
PS: maplestory can be epic when your high level, but mind you, it takes 2-4 years depending on how much time you spend to get to 200 unless your using x2 cards, etc. in wow, its all about the end game, levling up on quests is the tutorial, you learn about the world and how your going to play your part in it.

maplestory and wow are both fun, depends on your preference and age. money issues are your own back fall, its how much and what your willing to spend it on.
but overall wow has better graphics and takes actual skill to play, the world is massive and it is very time consuming, and you cant just log on and do what ever you want,where maplestory is a simple minded bright game which is full of mostly kids ranged from 7-20 and the occasional 30-50 year olds who probably enjoy playing with youth or with their kids,family,etc.
what pisses me off about ms is that when i tell someone "yo i gtg now" and they ask me "go where?" and i say" i have to leave for work in 10 mins" and they say "arnt you
too old to play ms" that fucking pisses me off so much i tell them to go fuck themselfs. and what pisses me off about wow is that it takes forever to get the gear you want and travel time boars me to death.
PPPS: im never going to just stick to one game, its what being a gamer is all about, test and crash every game cuz to us, finding the perfect game is like finding the golden treasure chest, if you find it, no longer will we have our purpose.

Maplestory sucks right now...But it will be pretty dam EPIC after the big bang(Balence patch+ And a ton of other uber shit thats epic). World of warcraft is okay right now(Becuase of bad endgame, Good leveling system though)....But it will be EPIC after cataclysm...
THE REAL VERDICT:
They will be equal, in time...
Uhh maplestory is such a grind fest, especially when you dont have any nx. But yeah doing battlegrounds in wow is so much fun, its something that maple can never have due to the extremely large damage output each character can do, and how low their hp is compared to how high the damage is... Wow is pretty much based around end game, but its also fun to level up, Do bgs while leveling and the game becomes less like grinding (IMO) and more like a fun pvp game...
i like both games though, if i had to pick 1 it would be WoW..

i went back to WoW a while ago and my god. it blows Maplestory away. it kicks Maplestory's ass hands down. Compared to WoW. what can you do. unlike maplestory, in wow there are loads of raids,dungeons, acheievements,events,different races,more classes,more creatures and it's ten times bigger. therefore.
WORLD OF WARCRAFT>maplestory. WoW FTW.

i hate how people say 15$ a month is a crap load of money just to play a game. 15$ a month is like 50 cents a day if you cant afford 50 cents per day you must be the poorest person ever. WoW has balanced classes so no classes are overpowered and the keep changing the classes to not make it cheap. in Maplestory classes are not balanced everyone knoes that an assassin is like the strongest crap out there and it can kill anything super fast. WoW actually requires skill cauz you dont only use 1 skill all the time like maplestory. wow has pvp maplestory dosent. wow has way more quest the maps are bigger there are way more bosses more party quest also the auction house in wow makes ur life simple unlike ms where ur like 5 hours in the free market looking for 1 item.maplestory only has a good community .

I think both are great games depending on what u may like you will tend to be more bias towards either one.. but at the end of the day its all in the eye of the beholder... for me maplestory is more appealing to me, rather than the better game
Thinking back on it.
Alot of people are right. Maplestory and WoW can't be compared.Although, WoW is in another league of it's own when it comes to mmorpg's. Nothing comes close.
But maplestory is more of a cheap and cheerful mmorpg but it's only fault would be the huge amount of grinding needed.
Therefore, they can't be compared with each other. Personally, WoW's graphics and depth make it a clear winner for me.
For the record that character that for WoW is now longer active! Now I play Mannoroth and my name is sanseamuis look me up!
Maple >>> WoW
1. World is MUCH bigger. Is funny to explore it, and you always know, there is something else.
2. Its game for fun - friends, guilds, family and a lot more
3. Not-So-Simple game mechanic, you can do a lot diffrent builds.
4. If you know game, you will level up fast
5. THE MOST IMPORTEND: If you pay 15USD, you HAVE TO play. So - you are zoombie. Some of my friend goes woombie (zoombie of wow) - no beer, no other personal life, no friends, only game. In maple - you don't have this addiction. You can stop for few weeks/months and go back, or not. If you pay - you play. Sorry.
6. Nexon have a lot games. Differend very games:
a/ Shattered galaxy (MMO Strategy),
b/ mobidongi(wich is for closer to WoW, and flawless slay WoW in means of play, world, mechanic, and graphic)
and many many more. You can spend the same nexon cash for several games, you don't have to pay just for playing. So - nexon is very rich company... they support a lot of product, not only one WoW. Take a look - Blizzard have 3 MMO projects, and two of them collaps.
WoW is just archaic, maple oldstyle .

Ok lets see 15 dollars for a month is not as little as you think it is. Its worth it if you have alot of free time and it is the best mmorpg that is fi you know how to play. Ive played maplestory for like a day and it is honestly not fun compared to wow. In Wow u have a million things to do but in Maple u just Grind Get gear and look cool... So Wow is no doubt alot better then Maple

I absolutley love maplestory, but their is no sense of community that you get with wow.. i did the free trial of wow and i hate the fact that you have to use your mouse for everything, but in maplestory it does get really repetative so best of both worlds = maplestory private server :)

first of all: wc3 costs money, so dota aint free
second: maplestory, if you want to do crappy ass damage and get laughed at by spoiled little kids, then it's free; otherwise, if you want a good amount of damage or godly damage, you could spend up to thousands on %equips...
I can fill up a few pages of all the cons of maplestory, but I'm not; I'll just list a few main ones:
1.the GMS are SO BAD, you report someone or send a ticket to nexon, they might not ever respond to it.
2.there are way too many, ksers, scammers, and hackers
3.community is shit
4.too much grinding will get way too boring
5.if you want nice damage, you'll need to spend hundreds, maybe thousands on this stupid game
6.all GMs do are upgrade new stuff that costs NX so they can make more money and they don't care about the players

I have played Maplestory for 1 year and reached top of the chart (200) but believe me the price is very high. you ll nvr be able to end the game unless u spend 1000$ on nx items or spend 30$/month on BT. still I choose BT over nx because atleast that way u r guarantied to reach lvl 200. On legit way MS takes atleast 2 year to reach 200 and the game is badly affected by hackers as well as underage ppl. Most of the time You will feel that You r just stuck in an immature scenario with players cursing and swearing at you for every mistake you make. the environment is kinda hard for new players since most of the players think themselve as 31337 players with The sentence "I h473 1\1 u13s"(I hate nubs/newbies) written in their macro.
So if u really can spend 1000$ a month and jobless and hate the social works and wanna stay in an isolated place MS is for You.
BTW I forgot to mention Its very addictive due their so called "smegas" where "nxwh0res" show their items with insane stats got by spending 10 years worth of income.The only thng you ll ever thnk while playing the game is hack,dupe and scam unless u r son of jesus christ or deceived angels from heaven
Actually both have their own advantages, I've enjoyed playing wow but it was too expensive.
So I switched to maple. In my opinion, maplestory is better than wow as it's free and simple. Also, Wow is 16 gigs, which literally one tenth of my hard drive. Anyway, it depends on ones opinion, to choose their favorite game.

once you recive your first job and advance to the second job advancement (lvl 30 which takes about 2~3 days, a hardcore mapler is able to get to lvl 50 in 1 day) and get the pwnage new skills! and yeah, as i said, someone who knows the game good enough to know where to grind (you can just ask somebody if you dont ...jeez!) then you can easily get to lvl 110 in 1 week! (i've done that, i would know... and i would have gotten to lvl 125 if it wasnt a priest...)so eat this all you people who say that maplestory is "EXTREMELY" long and boring ... its the opposite! once you see some lvl 200 Evan or Aran riding their Dragon/Wolf you would go like "OMFG I WANA B LIKE HIM!" and get to the training !!...
maplestory pwns wow now mainly cuz of the Big Bang update and Chaos. they now have pvp and u lvl way more faster than classic maplestory. u dont just grind, u can do quests, boss runs or just go to crafting town and make ur own equips.
Im not saying wow is a bad game, im just saying maplestory is way better.
for the kids that play maplestory and think 14.95 dollars a month is a lot. Let me ask you this, the only way you can become good in maplestory/ lots of money is getting gachapon or using your NX currency; which comes in 10,000 or 25,000 cards. I live in Canada and the 10k ones are $15 and the 25k are $30. You spend countless amounts of wasted money on these cards for the NX Points and the clothes/accessories you buy only last 3 months.. Wow,what a waste. These people who buy these cards dont just buy them once a month... ha, they buy multiple amounts of these cards. Remember $15 a month for WoW membership?( of course i remember the expansions to buy but the amount of cards being bought for NX outweigh those expansion packs any day). Now the pay-per month doesnt sound so bad now does it?
The biggest difference is obviously the 2D-3D thing. If your computer isn't so good graphically, Maplestory is a much better game to play because it lacks the real depth. Maplestory is simplistic. Every 3D game I've played just seemed like a brain overload.
...plus, the $14.95 subscription is a monetary block...
The fact that Maple is Free to play is more appealing in today's world.

I love Maplestory!!! So much, but sadly I got a mac, so I haven't been able to play it for a year and a half. 14.99 a month for WoW vs $80 for parallels and $120 for Windows 7 all to play Maplestory on mac. That makes WoW cheaper for an entire year (longer if you buy Nx in Maplestory). I've never played WoW but I'm going to start today. But let word be known... the very second Maplestory is playable on Mac I will be playing again.

Ms is way better , fun huge database and its not that easy to level those that say it is probable are under lvl 30 cause i am lvl 75 and it takes forever to level and im obsessed with it i spend hours on it but wow horible graphics and it looks like a game for my 6yr brother
i can't play maple story but i freaking hate wow i tried it and it was really bad i got on killed like 4 things got trashed talked and quit. maple story i can't use cause i have a mac but on my old pc's i have a lvl 62 spearmen and a lvl 89 dawn warrior. Ms owns wow. and for those that say just cause maple story is free it sucks? yea go try it and quit no living it on wow.
i say maplestory because world of warceaft level is only up to 20 but if you buy it will be a waste of money maplestory level is up to 200and there alot of jobs to do

Now this is an opinion. WoW is way better. I have nothing against maple but ill play it for a while than get bored and come bak later and be into it. Though its not as much fun unless you have nx, mesos, or strong equips. In my opinion WoW never gets old. The story line is amazing and you can do so many things and you wont discover it all... WoW beats Maple Just my opinion
